Winemaker Notes

Tannat thrives at Abacela and 21 months in French oak has resulted in a wine loaded with dark fruits, cracked pepper and sweet tobacco. The wonderful structure, solid tannins, bold acidity and balanced alcohol means this is a cellar worthy wine.

91 points & Editors' Choice, Wine Enthusiast
"This deep, grippy wine has the bones of a mastodon. Its thick blackberry, black cherry and cassis fruit carries even darker streaks of chocolate and espresso. Though still rare, Tannat is making a home for itself in Southern Oregon. It's a meaty, steak-friendly alternative to pricier Cabernets."

Wines of the Week, WinesNW.com
"This variety is unusual for the Pacific Northwest. It is popular in southwest France and in Uruguay in South America. The variety thrives in the Fault Line Vineyards of Abacela in Oregon’s Umpqua Valley. Look for dark fruits, cracked pepper and notes of cola and spicy tobacco."
