Winemaker Notes

Our estate vineyards have proven to be an ideal terroir for Viognier; the 2012 vintage once again granted us beautifully ripe fruit with exquisite flavors and balanced acidity. This wine is redolent of fresh pear, apple, apricot, papaya and honey. The rich creaminess creates a viscous mouth feel that frames the lengthy finish. This elegant Viognier will drink well for the next several years.

"Viognier tends to be a difficult grape to grow – and, ultimately, wine to make. One of the issues is the grape tends to be high in pH and, thus, low in acidity. Not so with this superb example from Southern Oregon. This opens with aromas of mint, lemon curd and Golden Delicious apple, followed by a gorgeous mouth feel with flavors of orange creamcicle, clove and abundant citrus. It’s rich, well rounded and backed with bright acidity."
