Winemaker Notes

We have made a Galician style Albariño since 2001 from 100% estate fruit.  This wine exhibits aromas and flavors of fresh apples, pears, citrus, and delicate apple blossom all carried on a frame that skirts the razors edge between creamy textures and steely minerality. We recommend pairing this wine with fresh seafood over the next 3 years; earlier if you seek crispness, later if you prefer greater complexity.

"#14 of Top 100 Wines of 2013", Great Northwest Wine Competition

"Double Platinum", Wine Press Northwest Platiunm Judging
"Owner Earl Jones was an early adopter of this white Spanish variety, and he and winemaker Andrew Wenzl continue to make the best in the Northwest. This is an explosive white wine with aromas of sweet herbs and citrus, followed by flavors of lime, lemon and yellow grapefruit with hints of minerality. The acidity brushes your teeth while it backs up all the edgy fruit.

"Top 100 Wines of 2013",
Earl and Hilda Jones continue to provide a benchmark for Spanish varieties from their plot in southern Oregon. This is eloquent, showing the grape's proper, minerally restraint. Peach blossoms and ripe orange, with a welcome ripeness.

"Top 50 Regional Wines 2013", The Seattle Times
This Roseburg, Ore., winery pioneered this Spanish white grape 15 years ago and consistently produces the best in the Northwest. It’s steely with refreshing acidity and flavors of lime, pear and apple. Perfect with crabcakes.
