Winemaker Notes

Tannat, native to Madiran in southwest France, has been grown in our estate vineyards since 2004.  Earlier bottlings were so well received that we tripled the planting.  While wine from this grape can be quite tight and tannic, these rustic qualities have been tempered by ageing 21 months in French oak casks.  This cellar worthy wine exhibits aromas of brambly purple fruits, anise, and layers of earth. The resolved palate and integrated spice lends itself to beef stews, cassoulets or mature cheese
