Outstanding!, "Earl Jones continues to commit more acreage to this Iberian variety, and his team delivers a big victory. By eschewing oak, winemaker Andrew Wenzl allows for a cross-current of fruit to gush, and the amazingly complex aroma profile includes quince, dusty apple, Circus Peanut candy, orange and pineapple. Of course the annual hallmark of this wine is its bracing acidity and flaky minerality on the entry. And yet there's peach, pineapple, apple and French vanilla flavors and a remarkable lemon cream in the farewell." Wine Press Northwest (Spring 2010)

"Captures the racy minerality of the Spanish grape, while amping it up to New World fruit standards. You get fruit-powered richness, with citrus and peach, along with lively acidity and a steely core." - Paul Gregutt, The Spokesman-Review (May 2010) Full article

Winemaker's Tasting Notes

Abacela’s north facing hillsides have proven ideal for Albariño because the cool autumn conditions there allow this beautiful grape to slowly ripen to perfection while retaining its lively acidity.

This Galician style wine exhibits aromas and flavors of crisp golden apples, citrus fruits, fleshy peach, almonds, and delicate white flowers all carried on a frame that skirts the razors edge between creamy textures and steely minerality.

We recommend drinking this wine within three years - earlier if you seek crispness, later if you prefer greater complexity. Dungeness crab and oysters are each a beautiful pairing, but this wine will embrace any fresh seafood entrée.
